MSc High Risk Pregnancy – National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
High-risk pregnancy is one of the most critical and dynamically evolving fields of modern Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The multifactorial complications of pregnancy continue to present challenges for healthcare professionals, such as obstetricians-gynaecologists, midwives and researchers, requiring continuous education and research awareness.
The MSc High Risk Pregnancy of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens offers a comprehensive and contemporary framework of education. It focuses on the physiological and pathophysiological changes that occur during pregnancy, while providing specialized knowledge for the diagnosis and management of high-risk complications, such as preterm birth, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, recurrent miscarriages and other serious conditions.
Particular emphasis is placed on training in medical research methodology, with students actively participating in international research protocols. The link between theory and practice is strengthened through clinical training and access to specialized structures.
The Programme has been operating since 2009 and was re-established by Government Gazette 4317/28-09-2018. To date, it has produced more than 790 graduates, contributing significantly to the staffing of the healthcare system with highly qualified scientists.
Since 2019, the Programme has offered the possibility of distance learning, adapted to the contemporary needs of professionals working in Greece and abroad, in accordance with the current regulations.
Teaching and practical training are supported by the advanced infrastructure of the 3rd Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University General Hospital “Attikon”, which meets international standards, utilizing cutting-edge technologies and innovative research approaches. The high-level scientific and teaching staff ensures the continuous upgrading of the Programme and its ongoing connection with developments in the global medical community.
